Mount Nyiragongo, in eastern Congo, has erupted and Residents are being evacuated from the city of Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, over the eruption of the nearby Nyiragongo volcano, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, after lava reached the city’s airport on Saturday night. Lava from the eruption was seen flowing in the nearby village of Buhene in the early hours of Sunday morning, as residents of Goma, a city of 2 million inhabitants, were seen leaving with some belongings. Locals said houses had already caught fire from the lava, but complained officials had not given residents clear information on what to do.
