Happiness is very hard to measure but one initiative from the United Nations has been trying to figure it out. Every year the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network publishes its World Happiness Report. This is a study that examines the connection between happiness and development and not the western standards of happiness portrayed by the mainstream media. The World Happiness Report 2020 was released recently. Welcome to 2nacheki and in this video, we present the Top 10 happiest countries in Africa.

10. Kenya
Kenyans are the happiest people in East Africa according to the report. Even if you’ve never been to Kenya, chances are you know what it looks like. Home to the likes Kipchoge Keino the legendary marathon runner among others, former US President Obama, and one of the world’s best actress Lupita Nyongo, the country has a lot to be happy about.
With a healthy life expectancy of 0.581 and freedom to make life choices of 0.431. Kenya has arguably some of the best weather in the World. Pleasant most year-round with two rainy seasons, and in many places even if it does rain, it all clears up to sunny blue skies on the same day.

9. Guinea
Guinea is a small coastal country in West Africa. Conakry, its capital city is the wettest capital in the world. The country’s industry consists of gold, diamonds, bauxite, alumina, and manufacturing.
The peoples of guinea are kind down to earth and enjoy the important things in life famil and friends. The country also features beautiful beaches such as those at Cape Verga and Les de Los which are among the best in the world. Guinea has a happiness index of 4.534 and ranks number 118

8. Namibia
Namibia is the second least densely populated country in the world. It has a population of ~2 million in a country that is twice the size of California. Only Mongolia is less populous. The low population makes it an excellent place to see wildlife.
Namibia is also home to the world’s largest population of free-roaming cheetahs. It is also the first country in the world to incorporate environmental protection into its Constitution. The result of this has been many community-based tourism initiatives that provide social and monetary benefits to the communities and authentic experience for visitors. It’s sustainable tourism at its best!

7. Senegal
Known for its vibrance culture Senegal and beautiful and tall people. You cannot visit Senegal without visiting areas of cultural and natural significance. The country has 7 UN-recognized landmarks and pictures do not justify the beauty of seeing them in-person. Each October, followers from all parts of West Africa will trek to the illustrious religious capital of Touba and pray for their founder Serigne Touba. Leading up to the event, major cities will host week-long festivals filled with food and praying. Senegal maintains a level of peace with its citizens and international allies, making the country one of the safest to visit in Africa.

6. Egypt

Home to one of the world’s oldest civilizations and the 29th largest country in the world by area with more than 82 million inhabitants, Egypt is the home of the World famous pyramids. Many people believe the pyramids were being built by slaves or Aliens, but that’s is not the case. They were built by paid skilled laborers and goes to show that the Western Would rather believe in the lunacy of Aliens than of African Architectural achievements. Egypt today is one of the richest countries in Africa which in turn enables its government to provide for the majority of its people.

5. Gabon
Because Gabon lies directly on the equator, it enjoys a tropical climate with year-round hot and humid weather. It also has an amazing 885 kilometers of coastline to explore with incredible sandy beaches and beautiful blue seas. This explains why it is a happy country. Gabon comprises a largely young population with 40% of the total population being below 15 years of age. About 56% of the total population is within the 15-64 age bracket. Less than 4% of the population is above 65 years.

4.South Africa
Some countries either have deserts or forests, Mountains, beaches, wetlands, grassland or escapements but when it comes to. South Africa this country has it all. South Africa is extremely rich in mining and minerals and considered the world’s leader with nearly 90% of all the platinum metals on earth and around 41% of all the world’s Gold. This explains why it ranks 4th in the list. Being the 2nd richest country in Africa the government can take care of its people

3. Ghana
The home of panafricanism Ghana is one of the most inspiring countries in Africa. Kente cloth, the fabric that was worn by Ashanti royalty, is still a point of national pride in Ghana. The custom of creating elaborate coffins for persons of prominence originates in Ghana and they are known to celebrate during funerals and not moun making them happy on allocations. The theme for the coffin is usually based on the person’s vocation, and the goal is to make a good impression once the deceased gets to the other side.
Ghana has a happiness index of 4.996 and ranks number 96

2. Morocco
Morocco is usually known for its beautiful places, colors culture, and kind-hearted people. They even have a city filled with bluewashed houses and old charming alleys. While Morocco is a popular holiday destination for sunbathing, you can go skiing as well. This is unique since you can experience the heat of the desert as well as the cold in the mountains in the same day. This beautiful scenery and warm people put it in the 2nd position.
Morocco has a happiness index of 5.208 and ranks number 89

This tropical paradise, created by volcanic activity some 8 million years ago has picturesque beaches, the teeming reefs, and sapphire-blue lagoons as well as the lush interiors, characterized by fascinating natural wonders, vivid sugar cane fields and breathtaking terrain. In 2017, Mauritius was named one of only four countries in the world that had no involvement in ongoing international or domestic conflict and no tensions with neighboring countries. It is also important to note that The life expectancy in Mauritius is 70 years for men and 75 years for women way higher than the world average and is well above the average for African countries. Perhaps that is why they are the happiest people on the continent.
Mauritius has a happiness index of 5.888 and ranks number 57.
