UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou made a triumphant return to Douala on Monday to show his champion’s belt to his fans. The Mixed Martial Arts fighter was greeted by crowds in the Cameroon city Douala before attending a ceremony with the local governor. “I wanted once again to thank you, all of you and all the Cameroon people,” Ngannou said during the ceremony. A former migrant and homeless in Paris, Ngannou got to the top of the UFC roster with impressive knockout victories. He defeated former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic last month in Las Vegas to become the third African-born UFC champion.
