People traveling between South African and Zimbabwe will be required to have a certificate proving their negative Covid-19 status from a test no older than 48 hours. Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says the rule will be strictly enforced. Many Zimbabweans staying and working in South Africa, travel back home at the end of the year to spend the Christmas and New year holidays with their families. This comes after South Africa confirmed 792,299 cases of Covid-19 with a death toll of 21,644 as of December 2, 2020.
