Afro-Brazilian female resistance carnival kicks off in Sao Paulo
A street carnival was held under the theme of Afro-Brazilian female resistance in Sao Paulo .
The Ilu Oba De Min bloc, which organised the performance, fights for black women’s empowerment against racism, sexism, discrimination, religious intolerance and homophobia.
They also seek to promote Afro-Brazilian culture in Brazil. The Sao Paulo street carnival is one of many taking place annually in Brazil with the most emblematic in the country being held in Rio de Janeiro which takes place at the same time.
