African American hold a candle-lit vigil is taking place on the streets of Greenwood, Tulsa, on Monday May 31, to commemorate the victims of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre at the time first shot was fired and the massacre started. Between May 31-June 1, 1921, armed mobs of White supremacists attacked local residents and businesses in the neighbourhood of Greenwood in Tulsa. Scores died in the violence with some estimates putting total fatalities at over 300.
